Critical Security Update
Microsoft, Cisco, Apple
Risk 1: Low
Issue: Microsoft recently released a series of Windows 10 and 11 updates to patch several security-related issues; however, these patches are causing significant delays and issues with streaming content. The content may lag, freeze, or even freeze the entire computer.
Resolution: Microsoft is slowly rolling out an update, but does not expect a full update to be released until early September. Once the update is released to you, it will be available under Windows Updates.
Risk 2: Medium
Issue: Cisco and the FBI have released reminder updates that Cisco devices older than six years may be vulnerable to an exploit that increases the likelihood of a Denial of Service attack or remote code execution within your environment.
Resolution: The resolution is not extremely easy. Some impacted devices (newer) have patches available while some of the older devices do not have a patch available and should be replaced. If you are unsure, you can lookup your device on Cisco’s Support page.
Risk 3: High
Issue: Apple has announced a Zero-Day (known and already being exploited) Vulnerability impacting iPhone XS and newer, iPad 2nd generation and newer, and any Mac running macOS Sequoia, Sonoma, or Ventura. This vulnerability allows for data to be written outside of the standard, secured locations as well as run remote code, putting the device at risk.
Resolution: Apple has released an update on all impacted devices and operating systems. Users should apply the most recent update to correct the issue.
