Critical Security Update: Jul7 9, 2025 (Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, Chrome)
Critical Security Update
Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, Chrome
Risk 1: High
Issue: Google Chrome currently has FIVE active zero-day vulnerabilities in live versions. As a reminder, a zero-day vulnerability is a security issue that is both known and currently being exploited. The most recent threat are state-sponsored actors who are using this vulnerability to access information within your browser.
Resolution: Google has all known exploited accounted for and corrected. Any Google Chrome user should update their browser to the latest version.
Risk 2: Medium
Issue: If you installed the June 2025 Windows update, you may receive errors from the Windows Firewall Log . Microsoft currently says to ignore these messages.
Resolution: Please do NOT ignore these errors. Sadly, this is the type of issue that malicious users leverage hoping you let down your guard. While there may be unnecessary error messages, it is crucial to review all errors for validation.
Risk 3: High
Issue: The Mozilla Firefox browser has seen a significant increase in fake or malicious wallets that are being used to connect to users' crypto accounts and drain their assets.
Resolution: It is recommended to only use known wallets from reliable sources and invest additional time to review and test wallets before usage.
Risk 4: Medium
Issue: Microsoft has released patches for Windows 10 and 11 totaling 177 unique updates.
Resolution: Windows users should apply these updates as soon as possible.
Risk 5: High
Issue: Nearly two dozen Google Chrome extensions actively listed on the Google Play Store have been found to contain malicious code.
Resolution: Chrome users should be extra cautious about what extensions they install and ensure they are absolutely critical for system operation. Any unknown or unrecognized extensions should be removed immediately.

Other Important Updates
The FTC “Click-to-Cancel” rule that we reported on several months ago that was set to go into effect back in the Spring to make unsubscribing from services easier has been shot down by a federal appeals court. The rule was blocked because the FTC failed to conduct a regulatory analysis. This action merely delays the requirement so we can expect to see an updated rule with the analysis.
