Approximately 1,000 tax professionals from across the United States (and the Virgin Islands) gathered at the Dolphin Resort in Orlando, FL, from July 21 through July 24, 2024. This was an amazing opportunity for tax experts with various backgrounds and unique skill sets to collaborate, share, and expand their networks.
During the event, the Founder of Financial Guardians spoke at five different sessions and participated at the Exhibitor Hall. This was an amazing opportunity to share about artificial intelligence, security, technology, and compliance within our industry. Below is a recap of the sessions led by Brad Messner.
Designing the Modern Firm
[Session Description] Brad brought together expert experts from across the country, specializing in topic areas impacting the future of the tax and finance industry. Natalie Kolodij spoke about selecting a niche for your firm. Jared Foos spoke about modernizing your firm and implementing new offerings. Will Hamilton shared about pricing and marketing to target your desired clients. Amy Brosnan spoke to generationalism and extending your existing offerings. Finally, Brad Messner rounded the discussion by talking about security, automation, and AI. The powerful session ended with an active Q&A session from the audience.
The Future of AI in Your Industry
[Session Description] Noelle Russell of the AI Leadership Institute started the second day with a moving conversation about artificial intelligence, challenging attendees to implement AI to solve their clients’ problems. She then invited Brad Messner, John Sapp, and Benjamin Alalrie on stage for an active panel discussion on AI in the tax industry. Attendees were presented with great cases and next-gen thoughts on where AI is taking our industry.
Artificial Intelligence Implemented the Right Way
[Session Description] Brad led an innovative discussion about using artificial intelligence within the tax preparation and finance industry. He shared about ethical uses and limitations within the bounds of accuracy and Circular 230, as well as the security implications of data privacy within AI platforms. Brad then walked attendees through setting up a basic TaxGPT and testing it with unique tax scenarios.
Handling the Client Disengagement
[Session Description] Brad partnered with Amy Brosnan to talk about both client engagement and, specifically, client disengagement. Filled with real scenarios and fresh perspectives on how to ethically handle client communications, relationships, and releasing clients. The session was very active, with discussion and questions.
Machine Learning for Small Business Tax Planning
[Session Description] Probably one of the most technical classes NATP has ever offered at Taxposium, the mixture of mathematics, technical, and tax led to a revolutionary discussion of using data analysis and artificial intelligence to design a forward-thinking tax plan for small businesses and GenAI to draft a well-written plan, including a checklist to assist the client with implementation.
Exhibitor Hall
Financial Guardians hosted their first expo hall this year at Taxposium and met with hundreds of tax professionals to discuss security and technology. Attendees received dozens of fun and quirky tech stickers and, if they signed up for our notifications, a custom shot glass! Those who purchased a membership will receive a custom Yeti mug post-Taxposium. The expo hall was a great time meeting with our clients and those in the industry who need improved security for their client data.
